Edinburgh International Climbing Arena

As announced at the ABC conference in September 2021 we are seeking to increase the numbers of providers of the current courses we offer this is the first step in that journey.

This workshop is open to potential providers who may not currently meet all of the prerequisites outlined in the provider pathway for each award, it is also a workshop for current providers which will act as your mandatory provider CPD.

Workshop Content – Boulder 1 – 9th April 2022 – 0930

  • Introductions: delegates and seminar outline.
  • ABC merger update.
  • the re-naming and restructuring of qualifications.

Workshops and talks from Board members and Senior Trainers with the following aims & objectives:

  • explain and introduce provider pathway, application, shadowing and approval processes.
  • legislation updates.
  • ladder guidance refresher and review of updated HSE documents.
  • teaching /coaching /guiding creativity in setters.
  • latest guidance on hold & volume attachment in relation to EN testing standards. Hosted by ABC Technical Experts.

Open forum

  • The progression of the qualifications offered at Level 2 and beyond.
  • setting for NICAS workshops.

Workshop Content – Roped 1 – 10th April 2022 – 0930

  • Introductions: delegates and seminar outline.
  • ABC merger update.
  • The re-naming and restructuring of qualifications.

Workshops and talks from Board members and Senior Trainers with the following
aims & objectives
(will include a chance to try new equipment from brand partners):

  • explain and introduce provider pathway, application, shadowing and approval processes.
  • legislation update, including PPE Regulations 2022.
  • understanding rig-for-rescue in route setting, along with other rigging considerations.
  • hauling holds update.
  • practical companion-rescue session.
  • new assessment processes including guidance on consolidation period for candidates.

Open forum:

  • the progression of the qualifications offered at Level 2 and beyond.
  • setting for NICAS workshops.
