Operational Guidelines
The ABC publishes and maintains a collection of guideline documents with the intention of ensuring an excellent and consistent level of operational safety across the climbing industry. The ABC guidelines outline a series of industry standards and make recommendations based on the experience of ABC members, BS EN Standards and relevant legislation and publications.
Safety
Alongside the guidelines, we provide a range of safety tools for free to our members, including:
- Incident Reporting Database, an end-to-end incident investigation and data analysis platform
- Centre signage, including the ABC Participation Statement, climbing safety and “buddy check” posters, and safeguarding posters
- The ABC Boulder Safety Video, available in 12 languages
- Tools and templates, from risk assessments to registration forms
Diversity and Inclusion
Our current diversity and inclusion resources are available to everyone in support of our goal to improve access to climbing as hobby, sport, and profession.
- BSL Sign Bank – a growing list of useful signs for climbers, coaches and anyone working with d/Deaf BSL users in the climbing community
- Everyone’s Welcome In Climbing, a guide for walls to reduce barriers to participation and make everyone feel welcome
