New Accessibility Guide for Indoor Climbing Walls

  • June 25, 2026
Estimated read time: 2 minutes

The ABC is pleased to launch the new ABC Accessibility Guide for Indoor Climbing Walls, developed to support climbing walls in creating more accessible and inclusive experiences for d/Deaf, neurodivergent and disabled climbers.

Developed in collaboration with paraclimbers, charities and climbing walls from across the sector, the guidance combines the perspective of those with lived experience and practical advice, signposting and key considerations to help climbing walls identify and remove barriers to participation, enabling more people to access and enjoy climbing. The guide also outlines sources of funding and grant opportunities which walls could access.

The guidance is an essential resource for any indoor climbing facility wanting to provide the most welcoming, inclusive and accessible space for all climbers. You will find support for every stage of your inclusion work, whether that’s enhancing your existing offer, increasing participation, or designing a new space.

To accompany the launch, the ABC will be hosting a webinar to introduce the guidance and provide an opportunity for questions and discussion. The webinar is open to climbing wall owners, operators, staff, volunteers and anyone with an interest in improving accessibility across climbing.
