This 2-day course will focus on route setting best practice, equipment, rigging, ascent and descent, bag hauling, WAH, LOLER and PUWER regulations. A variety of companion rescue scenarios will be trained and practised over the two days, as will practical route-setting. The course is intended for climbers who have a have a good level of rope-work skills, can lead / belay and climb frequently indoors at 6b. The course is also appropriate for designated route setter rescuers and floor walkers with a route-setter rescue remit. This course is approved for 1 MTA or 2 AMI CPD points.
Following completion of the two-day training course, candidates may apply for the one-day assessment course.
The course will be run by Pete Hill WMCI, FRGS, IRATA Level 3 qualified technician, ABC member, RSD trainer and assessor and RSD co-Chair. All equipment is provided.
The course fee is £250 per person including all specialised equipment and course reference manual.

This one-day course is the assessment element of the Roped Setter Level 1 qualification. It is also appropriate as a revalidation course for current Roped Setter (RSA Level 2) qualification holders.
Attendees must conform with one of the following criteria to attend:
- have completed a Roped Setter Level 1 training course;
- have applied for exemption from the training course;
- be a current Roped Setter Level 1 (or older version RSA level 2) holder and be attending the day as a three-year (or earlier) revalidation.
All candidates must also have set a minimum of 15 routes on ropes prior to the assessment.
